I have had the privilege of knowing Hank Murphy for several years and was ecstatic when asked to shoot his wedding. The first time I sat down and talked with Hank and his bride Ashton, I could see the spark between the two. What a joy it was to listen to them explain how the Lord brought them together and how they fell in love. They met at Hume Lake Christian Camp in California in 2010. Their friendship grew for two years before they started dating. Hank asked Ashton to be his wife at the Summit Church staff Christmas party in the most creative of ways. As the party came to a close, Hank stood on the stage and sang a Christmas song he wrote especially for the occasion. Everyone expected it to be a normal Christmas song. But then the chorus came and everyone heard these words: “Marry me, be mine forever always, marry me, I want to love you all my days.” By the end of the song he was on one knee and not a dry eye was in the room! She obviously responded with a resounding YES and within about 30 seconds the two of them were bombarded with a flurry of excited hugs and handshakes. They were just beaming!
Hank and Ashton invited friends and family to witness their vows at the beautiful Sutherland Estate & Gardens in Wake Forest, North Carolina. Most of Ashton’s family flew in from California for the big day and they brought the sunshine with them! Ashton and Hank were all smiles throughout the day. The most memorable part of the day was watching Hank see his bride for the first time: he was overwhelmed with emotions from tears to the biggest grin.
The couple will begin their new lives together serving at the Summit Church in Raleigh, NC. I am blessed to know them and to have been a part of their very special day!
